A new donation from Guilford-based Defibtech will strengthen DESK’s first response. As part of CPR and AED Awareness Week, Defibtech donated a new Automated External Defibrillator to be used in the Drop-In & Resource Center (DRC), meaning help is no more than a floor away for our over 1,500 guests who will visit the DRC over 17,500 times during the year. DESK’s entire staff is trained in CPR and Basic Life Support, which is just one of the many ways we provide vital resources for our clients, no matter where they are in their lives. DESK hosts the Cornell Scott Hill Medical Center office focused on street medicine on our third floor, ensuring that our clients who come for food can also receive medical care. Defibtech was founded in Greater New Haven, and its donation is an example of how the community rallies together and shares its skills in the face of record-high homelessness and food insecurity.
